Test Course is an area in B3313.

Description

A very simplistic, prototypical level likely intended to test Mario's platforming controls in an actual environment. There are no enemies, and the end of the course features a tall white pillar flying a large, triangle flag. An actual flagpole exists nearby, but it is invisible and extremely tall, allowing the player to climb far above the course.

Origins

This area is based off a prototype level shown in the tape named "Genesis" from the SM64 Classified YouTube series created by Emmy, notably in episode 5 from Season 2 where Jim showcases the Ultra 64's engine.

There is no music playing in this area.

• Collect the star at the top of the course behind the white pillar.

Trivia

Mario observing the glitched Bob-omb.

• If the player has a high dynamic difficulty level, red Bob-ombs may appear in Test Course, though most if not all spawn frozen in place on the death plane. Upon entering the course in this state, a glitched, flickering Bob-omb and smiling flower might appear to the player's immediate right. This Bob-omb is upside down in the "suffocating" position, and it has no collision and cannot be interacted with as either an enemy or an NPC. If the player travels deeper into the course and returns, the smiling flower and/or the Bob-omb may disappear. The Bob-omb also disappears if the player uses cheats to descend to the death plane, activating the Bob-ombs there, then returns to the course above.
