B3313 Wiki

Shame (Variant 1) is an area in B3313.

Description[]

The area is pitch black, similar to The Void and the Crusher areas. A lone carpet leads straight forward to a sign. Interacting with the sign will lead to a game crash.

In v1.0.1, the warp in Waterfall formerly leading to this area was changed to warp to Castle Depths instead. Shame (Variant 1) area was left in the game files. In v1.0.2, the sign's dialogue is changed, and the game does not crash if the sign is read.

Origins[]

Shame (Variant 1)'s "layout" appears to be based loosely on Dark Hallway but mirrored. Instead of going up a big step following a carpet, the player goes down a big step, following a carpet.

No music plays here.

Trivia[]

  • An alternate variant of this area can be reached through Star Road.
  • Besides being a mirrored version of Dark Hallway, this area also shares certain similarities with it:
    • Both have a way to send the player back to the Castle Grounds: falling down the hole behind the sign in Shame (Variant 1), or warping to The Void from Dark Hallway and falling down the warp hole.
    • The entry points to both areas are one-way warps, preventing the player from returning to their previous location.
  • If the player enters Waterfall with the Wing Cap then enters this area, the Wing Cap's theme music will continue to play before eventually fading away.
  • Lead developer Chris has stated that this Shame message is not referring to anything or anybody in particular.
