B3313 Wiki

Mirrored Upstairs is an area in B3313.

Description[]

The area is similar in design to Vanilla Upstairs, and even shares the same area ID, but the layout is mirrored, and the paintings are reversed in direction. The night sky painting is now red, and a beta Bob-omb Battlefield painting hangs on what is a blank wall in the original game. The walls of the upper level also have the same red tint, and the clock's face is reversed (although the hands still turn clockwise). It's impossible to enter in the clock through normal means.

The alcove which originally contains the warp to Wing Mario Over The Rainbow in the vanilla game is also grated, but the grate can be passed with the Vanish Cap located in the mirror room. As in the sister area, the warp that would have lead to Bowser in The Sky had the same fate, being unusable, but the Bowser painting is functional.

Origins[]

The area is taken directly from the vanilla Super Mario 64, albeit with some textures slightly altered in color, and also being mirrored to fit the “Mirrored Upstairs” theme. Equally to Vanilla Upstairs, some textures were replaced by their E3 counterparts. The music is maintained intact.

Stars[]

This area has 1 star to collect:

  • A faceless Toad, standing in the same spot as the Toad in the vanilla game's upstairs will give you a star.

Warps[]

Two-way[]

  • Peach Upstairs: Jump into the red version of the starry night painting.
  • Vanilla Upstairs: Use the Vanish Cap in the mirror room to pass through the mirror and exit the door on the other side.
  • (v1.0) Floor 4B: Enter the downstairs door at the end of the spiral staircase.

Paintings[]

Leading away[]

  • Castle Grounds: Fall into the hole where Rainbow Ride would be in the vanilla game, or pass through the grate and enter the warp normally leading to Wing Mario Over the Rainbow.
  • Tubular Lobby: Stand on the pillar closest to the Snowman painting in the mirror room.

Note that this section lists only the shortest routes to the area.

Trivia[]

  • The warp which would lead to Tick Tock Clock in the vanilla game is functional, but it does not have a warp set as it is not meant to be accessible. Using cheats to enter the warp will crash the game.
