B3313 Wiki

Jolly Roger Bay (beta) is an area in B3313.

Description[]

The area mostly looks like the vanilla Jolly Roger Bay, with a few key changes. The platform usually reached via the cannon containing the star is now accessible using several other platforms the player can climb. The eel is missing, but its tunnel is now unblocked, and the chests are missing from the cavern. Additionally, the main bay area has been slightly expanded. The sunken ship can be raised by opening the metal cap block on the water surface, then dropping down and pressing a purple switch. In v0.9, a thick blue fog was added to the level.

Floating Ghost Ship[]

When ACT 1 is active, a mysterious phenomenon known as the floating ghost ship makes an appearance, floating above the area. After raising the sunken ship, the player can stand on its bow to be warped to the ghost ship in the sky.

Origins[]

According to Chris, he based this level off of object coordinates found within the Gigaleak, with some slight modifications. Some textures are taken from the Shoshinkai beta version of Super Mario 64. The appearance of the trees comes from unused sprites found in the vanilla game's source code. The floating ghost ship may be inspired by the invisible, unused floating ship found by Pannenkoek in the vanilla Jolly Roger Bay, shown in this video.

The music playing is a recreation of the "Dire, Dire Docks" theme heard in beta footage.

Stars[]

This area has 5 stars to collect:

  • Climb to the high platform on the left side of the level.
  • Use the metal cap to press the purple switch at the bottom of the bay to raise the sunken ship.
  • Collect 8 red coins.
  • Reach the back of the cavern, where the treasure chests were.
  • (v0.9 and later) During ACT 1, raise the sunken ship and stand on its bow to be warped to the floating ghost ship.
  • (v0.4-v0.7) Find a star on the sunken ship.

Additionally, the 100-coin star for Course 15 could be collected here in v0.7 and earlier.
