B3313 Wiki

Hazy Maze Cave (empty) is an area in B3313.

Description[]

The area appears to be an early version of Hazy Maze Cave. The layout matches up with the vanilla Hazy Maze Cave, but most of the objects, including the doors, some of the enemies, and Dorrie, are missing. None of the pits actually trigger the player's death, as they all either have floors or lead to a lower level. A few textures are missing along with the water, the toxic cloud, and the warp to Cavern of the Metal Cap.

Multiple warning messages appear from various sources informing the player that the area is "incomplete" and they should "turn off [their] system." Two Bob-omb Buddies also inhabit the cave and more bluntly warn the player to "leave now."

When the player enters the level, 2 invisible 1-ups spawn to chase them, one kills them instantly upon impact, and the other crashes the game. This takes about four seconds if the player does not move, although it's possible to outrun the 1-ups by immediately taking the left path and remaining in motion whenever possible.

Origins[]

The area's layout is taken directly from the vanilla Hazy Maze Cave, with edits made.

The music playing is "Cave Dungeon" from the vanilla Super Mario 64 OST.

Changelog[]

  • v0.9
    • Added 2 Green Demons, which chase the player and kills them or crashes the game on contact.
  • v0.4
    • Added Hazy Maze Cave (empty).

Trivia[]

  • Unlike the vanilla Hazy Maze Cave, this area has a global death barrier. This adds more skips to the level, since the player can jump over significantly more walls than in the vanilla game.
  • In v0.6.1, reading any sign in the area put the player into an idle state, similar to pressing the C-Up button.
