Haunted Castle Grounds is an area in B3313.
Description[]
The area's layout is mostly identical to the main Castle Grounds. However, a number of things are noticeably changed:
- The grounds are covered in a red haze that tints every object.
- Toad statue in the courtyard area is now decapitated and Toad's Lobby is gone.
- The moat is drained.
- The trees and Yoshis are missing.
- Most of the regular warps no longer work, with the doors being locked or removed altogether.
Most importantly, a star door now appears on the roof in back of the castle, where the player spawns. The player must have collected all 13 red stars to enter the star door, which opens on a small room containing a red warp pipe.
Origins[]
The area is a variant of the normal Castle Grounds, which were inspired by the Shoshinkai beta version of Super Mario 64. The Toad statue in the back area can be seen in some of Annielogue's videos.
The music playing is the "Merry-Go-Round" theme from the vanilla Super Mario 64 OST.

- Genesis Basement: Enter either hole at the front of the moat.
- Ruins in the Blood Lake: Die in the area.
- (pre v1.0) Crescent Castle: Go through the back door.

Trivia[]
- If the player tries to enter the star door with fewer than 13 red stars, a message will appear saying "YOU ARE NOT WORTHY," which is a phrase used in BlackJoystick's video "Exploring the 4th Floor."
- This area was possibly created with the Kill Code SM64 myth in mind, as they share similarities like the castle grounds' sky turning dark, all textures being overridden with black and red colors, and BBH's carousel music playing.
