Funhouse 2 was an area in B3313.
Description[]
The area has the same layout as Funhouse except the doors are missing and warp pipes fill the strangely-textured halls. Most of the pipes do not have warps set and so will crash the game if entered. One wall still contains a working warp, which leads to Star Road (beta).
Origins[]
The area is a direct import of an unused level (sm64/map/stage3/donjon/donjon_shape.sou) found in Super Mario 64's source code in the Nintendo gigaleak. Called "Stage3" or "donjon," the level is theorized to be a prototype of Peach's castle serving as a hub.[1]
"Donjon" is a Middle English word (pronounced like and related to "dungeon")[2] which refers to a castle keep or stronghold, usually a fortified tower at the center of the castle.[3] "Donjon" has been incorrectly described as the romanization of the Japanese word for "castle" or "great tower." While the Japanese word 天守閣 can be defined as a donjon or castle keep, it is romanized as "tenshukaku," not "donjon."[4]
