B3313 Wiki

Dark Downtown is an area in B3313.

Description[]

The area is presumably located beneath River Mountain. The player spawns in a dark room illuminated by a skylight above, with a slide up ahead leading down to the rest of the area. It consists of waterfalls flowing into a moat, beyond which is a town whose citizens are Bob-ombs. Additionally, there is a Chain Chomp that can't be released because there is a platform that covers its pole.

At the far end of the town stands a steepled building, inhabited by the area's lone Bob-omb Buddy. Platforms above the building lead upward, one with a water level crystal and the highest in the area holding a warp pipe and item box.

Origins[]

The area was inspired by one shown in Emmy's video "Prologue." The layout is mostly identical, with the town taken from Wet-Dry World in the vanilla Super Mario 64 and some textures taken from the beta version. The Bob-omb Buddy and his dialogue also originate from "Prologue." A major deviation from the source material is the presence of the warp pipe at the top of the area, where the Yellow Switch is located in the video.

The music playing is the track "Coincentration" from Super Mario 64 DS.

Stars[]

This area has 2 stars to collect:

  • Break open the item box on the highest platform in the area, behind the warp pipe.
  • Collect 8 red coins (does not boot the player out of the level).
