Chroma Tundra (beta) and Shifting Sand Land (beta) are two maps that constitute one area in B3313.
Description[]
Chroma Tundra (beta) is a snow level with a layout similar to Shifting Sand Land, with a fortified tower in place of the pyramid and frozen ponds in place of quicksand pits. Stepping on the big stone platform will warp the player to Shifting Sand Land (beta).
Shifting Sand Land (beta) is a rendition of the vanilla level based on 1996 E3 footage of Shifting Sand Land. It features slightly altered versions of the pyramid, four pillars being unable to be climbed, oasis and stone platform. Approaching the quicksand pits sprinkled throughout the level will warp the player to Chroma Tundra (beta).
Origin[]
Chroma Tundra (beta) is lifted from Emmy's Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED video "Snow level playtest" where a developer tests an early version of Shifting Sand Land called Chroma Tundra and suggests making it a desert level instead, as he thought having three snow levels might be a bit much. The level in the video has collision issues not present in this stage.
Shifting Sand Land (beta) is inspired by the video "lost-demo" by Emmy. The area is meant to be an even earlier version of the Shifting Sand Land beta that was shown in 1996, sporting a few differences in geometry and object placements, but still mostly matching with the vanilla Shifting Sand Land.
Chroma Tundra (beta) uses a modified version of the Snow Mountain theme. Shifting Sand Land (beta) uses a modified version of the Lethal Lava Land theme, or the vanilla Lethal Lava Land theme.

- In Chroma Tundra (beta), a star can be found at the top of the tower. To reach it, the player must go through Bowser's Outpost.
- In Shifting Sand Land (beta), Klepto is carrying a star.
- In Shifting Sand Land (beta), there is a star at the top of the pyramid.
- (A2) In Chroma Tundra (beta), collect 5 silver stars.
- (A2) In Shifting Sand Land (beta), collect 8 red coins.
