Basement Maze is an area in B3313.
Description[]
A labyrinth of corridors, the Basement Maze begins with a "lobby" area very similar to that of the Vanilla Basement with a few changes: a second key door, no additional hallway and door behind the star door, and a single door that leads to an empty version of the vanilla game's moat-draining room, which can also be accessed from within the maze.
The maze section holds several unusual artifacts: iron doors that won't open, Bowser paintings hung askew, and non-working versions of warp paintings. A single door within the maze opens on a ramp leading to a second "upstairs" lobby. Portions of the maze are flooded, leading to a series of underwater tunnels.
Origins[]
This area is inspired by a now deleted video by The Bob. The idea of a maze with basement aesthetics was also explored by Marionova in the video "The Man Dressed in Green". The extra door in the Vanilla Basement entrance section of the maze also appears to be inspired by Marionova's videos and the ROM hack "Breaking the Barrier".
The music playing is "Inside Castle Walls" from "Super Mario 64".
If entered from Vanilla Basement during nighttime, the music will continue to play "Haunted House" from "Super Mario 64" instead.
Stars[]
This area has 1 star to collect:
- An item box holds a star in a room filled with question blocks. To reach the room, turn left when exiting the upstairs lobby and enter the flooded portion of the maze. Follow the gray stripe on the wall near the floor to a red carpet, then dive into the hole on the left. Take the next tunnel leading upwards, then swim to the end to emerge in the question block room. (in Unabandoned, this is a Red Star)
Warps[]
Two-way[]
- Internal Garden: Enter the key door to the right of the star door in the basement's lobby.
- Floor 4B: After entering the maze from the basement's lobby, take left turns exclusively to reach a single door.
- Outer Strip: Enter the key door with a long red carpet in front of it. To reach it, after entering the maze from the basement's lobby, turn left, go around the giant pillar, and continue down the hallway past several curves.
- Clockway Internals: In the upstairs lobby, enter the double doors beneath the Mr. I painting. To reach the upstairs lobby from the door to Floor 4B, bear to the left until you see a strip of red carpet. Follow it and enter the door to the left.
- Bowser's Domain: Enter the star door in the upstairs lobby, then the double doors at the end of the long carpet.
- Parallel Lobby: Enter the warp pipe in the question block room.
- Tubular Lobby: Enter the warp pipe in the jail cell, reachable by swimming to the end of the underwater tunnel. The pipe leads to the Basement Room of the Tubular Lobby.
- Greenhouse Framework: Go past the entrance to the underwater tunnels and down the hallway, then enter the key door.
- Castle Depths: Enter a warp pipe deep within the maze near the upstairs lobby.
Leading here[]
- Vanilla Basement: Attempt to collect the fake star where Toad can usually be found.
Leading away[]
- Cave Dungeon: Enter the Snufit painting. To find it, turn right when entering the maze, then go straight until the corridor curves. Take the next right to see the painting straight ahead.
- Vanilla Lobby: Enter the key door that originally exited to the castle lobby. Re-entering will return the player to the Vanilla Basement instead.
- Flooded Basement: Enter the hole in the hallway behind the star door in the basement lobby.
- Mr. I's Basement: Enter the single door in the basement lobby or take right turns exclusively after entering the maze to reach another single door; both doors lead to a moat-draining room. Inside, enter the iron door that originally exited to the drained moat.

Trivia[]
- Peach's Ghost sometimes appears in front of the door to Greenhouse Framework.
- In the area where the underwater tunnels begin, there is a walled over painting that cannot be entered normally. Entering it using debug mode reveals a small, empty room behind it.
- The Cave Dungeon painting will despawn when exiting after dying or collecting a star. It will respawn if the player moves away from it.
- Interestingly enough, being a Marionova64 reference, this area connects to most MarioNova64 references in the game, except for Breaking the Barrier and The Bowser Room, the latter not being in the game.
- In "The man Dressed in Green", the "basement maze" leads to both Internal Garden and Greenhouse Framework, similar to B3313.
