There are two stars additional stars which are theoretically collectable; A star in castle1 and a star in Castle Garden, the latter of which would not contribute to the star total. In order to collect these, one would need to find a way to ignore the instawarps. There is one additional star in Tall, Tall Mountain which would be possible to collect if one could enter the area with Act 2 activated.
